Abai University has opened a Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence. It will train a new generation of IT specialists and educators fluent in AI technologies, addressing the key challenges of the digital era. This initiative is directly linked to the launch of the state pilot program for integrating AI into the country's secondary education system, which begins this September. The new faculty is intended to become the main center for training highly qualified personnel capable of meeting the growing demand for modern technologies in schools.
The
pilot project is being implemented under the instruction of the Head of State
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on developing digitalization and artificial intelligence.
In the first stage, the program will cover 10 schools in the Kyzylorda and
Pavlodar regions, then expand to 50, and by 2027 it will gradually scale up to
an additional 300 schools. Integrating AI systems into the educational process
requires not only updating curricula but also urgently training specialists
capable of working with these technologies. Abai University is taking on this
strategic task by providing pilot schools with innovative personnel.
The
new faculty announces admission for applicants to the educational programs
"Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology" and
"Training of Computer Science Teachers." Students will gain
comprehensive knowledge in the most in-demand fields: programming, machine
learning, robotics, cybersecurity, data analysis, and the Internet of Things
(IoT). These programs will allow graduates to combine a deep theoretical
foundation with the effective practical application of AI tools.
Applicants
planning to enroll in the new specialties must choose the "Mathematics –
Computer Science" subject combination on the UNT. The minimum passing
score for admission is 75 points. Young specialists trained in this field will
make a direct contribution to building the digital Kazakhstan of the future and
will elevate the national education system to a qualitatively new level.
Applicants who score above 75 points on the UNT can participate in the
competition for state grants. When filling out the application, the code for
Abai KazNPU is 007.
Grant
applications will be accepted from July 13 to 20, and enrollment in the paid
department of Abai University will continue until August 25. Admissions offices
operate in the country's two major cities: in Astana, at 8/1 Ushkyshtar Street,
and in Almaty, at 30 Kazybek bi Street.
