One of the key results of the implementation of the AI-Sana program has been the emergence of hundreds of applied artificial intelligence projects in Kazakhstan's universities. While the first stage focused mainly on building AI competencies and training personnel, today students are already creating their own digital solutions for real-world industry challenges, reports Liter.kz, citing the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As
part of the program's second stage, more than 87,000 students and over 1,500
curators from 105 universities across the country are undergoing training.
During this period, program participants have already developed 442 AI
solutions aimed at solving applied problems for national companies and priority
sectors of the economy. They cover a wide range of areas — from education and
science to healthcare, agriculture, finance, and industry.
The
largest number of projects is being implemented in the field of education — to
date, 188 solutions have been created aimed at improving the quality of
education, personalizing the educational process, and automating administrative
procedures. This figure demonstrates that universities are becoming not only
centers for training specialists but also platforms for developing their own
technology products.
Among
the most successful projects are solutions already used in practice that
demonstrate high demand. One such example is AI-Talapker from the National
Testing Center — an AI chatbot for consulting on the UNT (Unified National
Testing) and university admissions. To date, the system has processed more than
69,000 user inquiries, significantly reducing the workload on specialists and
improving access to information for applicants.
Another
example is the AI proctoring system at Satbayev University, which ensures
transparency and academic integrity during online testing. The development has
already expanded beyond Kazakhstan and is being used by foreign organizations,
with the total number of users exceeding 180,000.
At
AlmaU, the OquLabs platform is being developed, which allows automating the
checking of assignments, tracking student progress, and analyzing the results
of the educational process. The solution has already been implemented in a
number of secondary education organizations.
The
next stage in the development of university AI projects is the creation of
multi-agent platforms, in which various intelligent systems interact with each
other and automate individual processes of an educational institution.
For
example, Karaganda Industrial University is implementing the Smart Bots
platform, which combines AI agents to support students and applicants, as well
as academic and administrative processes.
Kostanay
Regional University is developing the AI-Mektep platform, which includes tools
for intelligent analytics, content generation, and personalized learning.
M.
Auezov South Kazakhstan University is implementing the Auezov AI First
platform, which combines student recognition services, digital document
management, and intelligent assistants.
A
separate area is related to the application of artificial intelligence in
scientific activity. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is developing a
system for the automated review of applications for research and development
work based on formal criteria. The solution will significantly speed up
document processing and improve the efficiency of scientific administration. In
addition, an AI assistant is being created for members of the National
Scientific Council, capable of analyzing data on projects, scientists, and
scientific publications to support expert decision-making.
"It
is important to note that most of these developments are created directly by
students as part of the AI-Sana program. Thus, project participants not only
master modern artificial intelligence technologies but also gain experience
solving real problems in the economy, education, and science. The program's
first results show that a new culture of technological entrepreneurship and
innovation is forming at Kazakhstani universities. Students are becoming
authors of their own digital products, and universities are becoming centers
for developing in-demand AI solutions," reports the ministry's press service.
In
the future, the best projects will be able to go through acceleration programs,
attract investment, and enter the market as independent technology products.
AI-Sana is consistently building a national artificial intelligence ecosystem
and creating conditions for training specialists who will shape Kazakhstan's
technological development in the coming years.
