At the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, the SignBridge AI system is being developed to automatically translate media materials in the Kazakh language into sign language.
This was announced by Vice Minister of Science
and Higher Education Dinara Shcheglova during a briefing at the Central
Communications Service, Kazinform agency reports.
According to her, today Kazakhstani
universities are not limited to education in the field of artificial
intelligence, but are moving toward creating their own digital solutions for
various industries.
— Eurasian National University is introducing
the SignBridge AI system, which automatically translates media materials in the
Kazakh language into sign language. This project is already being used on the
Jibek Joly TV channel, — noted Dinara Shcheglova.
As the Vice Minister emphasized, AI-based
projects developed by domestic universities are already being applied in
education, healthcare, industry, tourism, the financial sector, and digital
security.
For example, Astana IT University has created
the EnergyDronesAI system, which makes it possible to detect faults in solar
panels using drones.
In turn, East Kazakhstan Technical University has
developed the Smart Safety Monitor system for monitoring movement in mines and
ensuring industrial safety.
The project received grant support from the
World Bank.
In addition, Astana Medical University is
implementing the ZhanCare.AI telemedicine platform.
Astana IT University is also working on the
CortexAI system designed to support doctors in the field of transplantology.
The project became the winner of an international
grant from Saudi Arabia.
Earlier, Kazakhstan proposed creating a network
of industrial AI laboratories for the EAEU countries.
