As part of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's instructions on digitalizing all sectors, including education, the Government, represented by the Ministry of Education, is implementing a set of measures to introduce artificial intelligence aimed at reducing teachers' workload, improving students' AI literacy, and creating a National Educational Platform. This was announced by Deputy Minister Asylbek Akhmetzhanov. "The Ministry of Education has begun creating a national system of digital profiles and the National Educational Platform. For this purpose, the National Educational Database will be modernized, becoming a unified data repository for all LMS systems, meaning electronic diaries and gradebooks. This will make it possible to consolidate all data on the QazTech state cloud platform," he noted. This will reduce the routine workload on teachers, since AI agents will be able to help, for example, with preparation for pedagogical councils. "Starting from the 2026-2027 academic year, the 'Qazaq Digital Mektebi' project will be launched in pilot regions for small rural schools, which will also employ AI tutors. During 2026, more than 200,000 teachers will gain practical AI skills," the deputy minister added. Particular attention will be paid to improving AI literacy among students. In addition, during the first half of 2026, a working group under the Ministry will develop recommendations for amending legislation, as well as evaluate the effectiveness of pilot projects on the use of artificial intelligence in education. "In this way, the Government will provide the digital foundation that will, with the help of AI agents, reduce the burden on teachers and simplify access to public services for our citizens," Asylbek Akhmetzhanov concluded.
