Karaganda Industrial University announces a competition for an educational grant named after Nariman Kuanyshgalievich Ishmukhamedov.

The grant was established in memory of the outstanding metallurgist and rector of the Plant-VTUZ – now the Karaganda Industrial University, who dedicated his life to the development of science, engineering education, and the training of specialists for Kazakhstan's industry.

The program is designed for five years and provides 15 educational grants annually.

Who can participate?

School graduates who meet the following mandatory requirements are eligible to participate in the competition:

• • are citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
• • permanently reside, are registered or have graduated from school in the city of Temirtau or nearby settlements of the Karaganda region;
• • are admitted to the Karaganda Industrial University for full-time study;
• • scored at least 75 points in the UNT results;
• • chose one of the university's priority educational programs.

Priority educational programs

• • ferrous metallurgy;
• • non-ferrous metallurgy;
• • pressure processing of materials;
• • metal pressure processing technology;
• • energy supply for industrial facilities;
• • automation systems engineering;
• • business economics.

Selection criteria

When reviewing applications, the competition committee will take into account:

• • UNT results and academic performance;
• • content and quality of the motivational essay;
• • achievements in educational, scientific, social, volunteer and sports activities;
• • social status of the candidate.

What do the competition winners receive?

The winners will receive:

• • payment of tuition fees in the amount of up to 700,000 tenge per year;
• • monthly additional educational payment in the amount of 150,000 tenge.

The grant is provided for one academic year with the possibility of extension provided the recipient meets the terms of the program, university requirements, and the established level of academic performance.

The Nariman Ishmukhamedov Educational Grant offers an opportunity to obtain a high-quality higher education, develop one's potential, and become part of a new generation of specialists who continue the best scientific and engineering traditions of the Karaganda Industrial University.

Documents for participation in the competition

To participate in the competition, the candidate provides:

1. An application of the established form in accordance with Appendix 1.
2. A copy of the identity document.
3. Certificate of general secondary education with appendix.
4. Certificate of Unified National Testing.
5. Motivational essay.
6. Documents confirming residence, registration, or completion of school in the city of Temirtau or nearby settlements of the Karaganda region.
7. Documents confirming achievements in educational, scientific, social, volunteer or sports activities, if available.
8. Documents confirming the candidate’s social status, if any, including:
   • – status of an orphan or a child left without parental care;
   • – belonging to a large family;
   • – status of a child of a combat participant or veteran of the war in Afghanistan;
   • – belonging to a single-parent family.
9. Other documents confirming the candidate’s right to participate in the competition or information taken into account during the competitive selection.

Competition dates

Submission of documents: from August 10 to August 22, 2026 inclusive.

Competition results will be announced on August 25, 2026.

Grant award ceremony: September 1, 2026.
