On May 5, the International Metallurgy Olympiad, dedicated to the Year of
Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence and the 35th anniversary of the
National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, concluded at
Karaganda Industrial University.
This year, the Olympiad brought together participants from four countries:
Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
Participants included:
— Karaganda Industrial University;
— Kyrgyz State Technical University named after Iskhak Razzakov;
— Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov;
— Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University (Multidisciplinary
College);
— Polytechnic College of Kazakhmys Corporation;
— Pavlodar Polytechnic Higher College;
— Aksu College of Ferrous Metallurgy;
— Balkhash Humanitarian and Technical College named after Alikhan Musin;
— Higher College of Non-Ferrous Metallurgy;
— Technical and Economic College at KarIU;
— Temirtau Higher Polytechnic College.
Over these two intensive days, participants demonstrated a high level of
preparation, strong engineering thinking, and a commitment to professional
growth. The Olympiad became not only a competitive platform but also a space
for exchanging knowledge, ideas, and establishing new professional connections.
For the city of Temirtau, metallurgy is not just an industry but the
foundation of its development and identity. It is here that future engineers,
researchers, and industry leaders are shaped.
A special role in this process is played by Karaganda Industrial University
— the core university of the metallurgical sector, which hosts the Karaganda
branch of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The
university trains highly qualified specialists, actively collaborates with
industry, implements dual education, and advances scientific research.
