THE NEW CONSTITUTION AND THE FUTURE OF STATE UNIVERSITIES

On October 1, a meeting on the topic “The Role of the New Constitution in Kazakhstan’s Future Institutional Architecture” was held at Karaganda Industrial University.

The meeting was addressed by renowned Kazakhstani legal scholar Yerkin Anuarovich Ongarbayev — Doctor of Law, Professor, Honorary Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Honorary Lawyer of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and recipient of the Orders of “Құрмет”, “Парасат” and “Барыс”.

During the meeting, participants discussed the significance of constitutional reforms for the country’s further development, strengthening legal institutions, protecting citizens’ rights, and increasing the responsibility of state bodies. Particular attention was paid to how amendments to the Basic Law may affect the governance system, public relations, and interaction between the state and citizens.

Yerkin Ongarbayev explained complex legal issues in accessible language and shared his professional perspective on the formation of Kazakhstan’s future institutional system. Participants were able to ask questions and discuss the role of young people in building a legal and just state.

The event continued the university’s work on legal education and the development of an anti-corruption culture, which KarIU carries out in cooperation with the Republican Public Association “National Movement Against Corruption ‘Zhanaru’”. Such cooperation helps familiarize students with the principles of legality, integrity, openness, and civic responsibility.

The meeting became a platform for a meaningful discussion about the country’s future and allowed participants to better understand why the Constitution defines not only the structure of the state, but also the rights, opportunities, and responsibilities of every citizen.
