A city Financial Literacy Olympiad was held at Karaganda Industrial University as part of the implementation of socially significant initiatives aimed at increasing access to higher education and developing relevant competencies among young people. The University systematically advances financial education, creating platforms to identify and support talented school students.
On March 4, the Olympiad for 11th-grade students of
schools in Temirtau was conducted at the Faculty of Economics and Construction
of KarIU. The intellectual competition generated significant interest: 25
applications were submitted from 11 schools in the city and one school from
Bukhar-Zhyrau district — KSU "Talgat Bigeldinov Secondary School".
Participants demonstrated a high level of preparation
and academic integrity, completing the tasks without the use of mobile phones
or any prompts. Members of the jury noted the students’ ability to think
creatively, analyze financial situations, and perform complex calculations. The
Olympiad served not only as a test of knowledge but also as an opportunity for
participants to showcase their analytical skills and practical understanding of
financial instruments.
The significance of the event was further enhanced by
the support of its partners. The prize fund was provided by the FINGRAM by
Dmitriy Kazantsev (The GAME) project, offering additional motivation for
participants and emphasizing the practical importance of studying financial
literacy. According to the organizers, cooperation with such initiatives makes
it possible not only to objectively assess students’ knowledge but also to
encourage the development of financial culture and personal financial security.
According to the results of the Olympiad, the winners
were:
1st place — Samatkyzy Saya (KSU "Secondary School No. 8");
2nd place — Biryukova Ulyana (KSU "Gymnasium No. 1");
3rd place — Yerdaulotov Asylzhan (KMM "Ozat" Specialized IT
School-Lyceum).
The University expresses sincere gratitude to all
participants for their initiative and determination to succeed, to its partners
for their contribution to the development of the region’s educational
potential, and to the Temirtau City Department of Education and the Education
Department of the Karaganda Region for their support and assistance in
organizing the event.
The Olympiad once again confirmed that intellectual
investment in youth is a reliable investment in the country’s future.
