Financial Literacy Olympiad

The Non-Profit Joint-Stock Company “Karaganda Industrial University” informs you about the organization of a Financial Literacy Olympiad, which will be held on April 9, 2026. The event is aimed at promoting economic knowledge and financial literacy among students of universities and colleges. The Olympiad will take place in the university’s new building. 

Time: from 12:00 to 15:00.

The prize fund is provided by the FINGRAM by Dmitriy Kazantsev Project (The GAME PC). 

Each participant, regardless of their ranking, will be awarded a certificate of participation. 

You are kindly requested to inform students about this event and ensure the participation of interested candidates.

     Rules for Conducting the Financial Literacy Olympiad for University and College Students


1. General Provisions

  1. This Regulation (Rules) has been developed in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Education” dated July 27, 2007 No. 319-III and defines the goals and objectives, organizational and methodological support, the procedure for conducting, participation, and determining the winners and prize-winners of the event.
  2. The Financial Literacy Olympiad (hereinafter referred to as the Olympiad) is an intellectual competition for university and college students.
  3. The organizer of the Olympiad is the Department of “Economics and Business” of the Faculty of Economics and Construction at NJSC “Karaganda Industrial University” (hereinafter referred to as the University).


2. Goals and Objectives of the Olympiad

  1. The main goal of the Olympiad is to identify and support the most capable students who show interest in economics as a science, in mastering financial literacy, and in developing their own economic knowledge.
  2. Objectives of the Olympiad:
  • creating favorable conditions for university education of gifted students in the field of economics and finance;
  • increasing students’ interest in economic science and its methods within the framework of studying other sciences;
  • pre-specialized training of gifted students in the field of economics for potential admission to economic specialties of the university;
  • dissemination and popularization of financial literacy knowledge among students of the city of Temirtau.


3. Participants of the Olympiad

  1. Students of colleges and universities of the city of Temirtau may participate in the Olympiad.
  2. Students who have demonstrated good knowledge in the disciplines “Economics”, “Mathematics”, “Fundamentals of Law”, and “Geography” may take part in the Olympiad.


4. Procedure for Organizing and Conducting the Olympiad

  1. The organizing committee consists of преподаватели кафедры “Economics and Business”.
  2. The organizing committee develops the Regulations for conducting the Olympiad, prepares Olympiad tasks, approves the composition of the jury for evaluating the works, the Olympiad program, accepts applications from participants, and develops certificate forms for participants and diplomas for prize-winners and the winner.
  3. The University Board, represented by the Rector (or Acting Rector), with the support of the Project FINGRAM by Dmitriy Kazantsev (PC The GAME), provides funding for the prize fund for Olympiad participants.
  4. The jury evaluates the participants’ works in accordance with the answer standards and also makes proposals to the organizing committee regarding awarding winners and prize-winners.
  5. The Olympiad is held in one in-person (not дистанционный) stage at the Faculty of Economics and Construction in Building I (main building) of the University on 09.04.2026, from 12:00 to 15:00.


5. Summing Up and Awarding Olympiad Participants

  1. Winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad are awarded diplomas of I, II, and III degrees, signed by the Rector of the University (or Acting Rector), and a monetary prize from the Project FINGRAM by Dmitriy Kazantsev (PC The GAME).
  2. All participating school students are awarded certificates of participation in the Olympiad.

           Regulations for Conducting the Financial Literacy Olympiad for University and College Students of the city of Temirtau



    Time Schedule:

    1. The event is held on Thursday, 09.04.2026, from 12:00 to 15:00 (lasting 3 hours in classrooms N-324, N-325b, N-313, etc.).

    Participants and accompanying persons gather in advance in the New Building, leave outerwear in the cloakroom (ground floor), and proceed to N-223 for the opening of the Olympiad.

    1. 12:00 – Opening of the Olympiad – welcome speech to participants by the Member of the Board – Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs G.A. Sivyakova and D.A. Kazantsev, Head of the Project FINGRAM by Dmitriy Kazantsev (PC The GAME).
    2. 12:15 – Explanation of the Olympiad regulations for participants and types of tasks. Distribution of participants to classrooms (computer labs in the new building).
    3. 12:30 – 15:00 – Participants complete Olympiad tasks (2.5 hours).
    4. 15:00 – 15:45 – Completion of tasks by participants. Collection and subsequent evaluation of tasks by jury members (evaluation is carried out by the department commission based on prepared answers).
    5. 15:45 – 16:00 – Summing up, awarding participants, taking a group photo. Closing of the Olympiad.


    Content of Olympiad Tasks:


    The Olympiad is conducted within the framework of general economic knowledge and financial literacy. The content of the tasks corresponds to the level of preparation of students of general educational institutions.

    A total of one version of tasks consisting of 40 questions in two working languages (Kazakh and Russian) will be presented, containing questions of various levels of difficulty:

    Level 1 difficulty – 2 points

    Level 2 difficulty – 3 points

    Level 3 difficulty – 4 points

    Level 4 difficulty (with multiple correct answers) – 5 points

    Recommended completion time – 120 minutes (3 minutes per question).

    Maximum score – 129.


    Behavioral Regulations:


    Participants are prohibited from leaving the classroom during the event with a mobile phone – the mobile phone must be handed over to the organizing instructor and returned after the completion of testing;

    Participants are seated strictly one per desk (or with one seat between participants);

    The use of mobile phones, talking to other participants, and disturbing them during task completion is prohibited;

    In case of receiving two repeated warnings for violating the behavioral regulations and one warning for cheating using a phone, the participant is removed from the Olympiad room – their results are annulled;

    Participants may complete tasks in any order: both in terms of time and sequence. Time recommendations are provided from the subjective perspective of the organizing committee and are not binding for participants.
