On March 29, 2023, a seminar titled “Key Competencies of the Person of the Future” was held at the Department of Metal Forming. Its purpose was to systematize students’ understanding of the existing diversity of professions and to identify the key competencies currently required for any specialist beginning their professional career.
During the event, Amanzholov Zhuman Kalykovich introduced the attending students, teachers, and other university staff to the new views of most employers regarding the future skills of an employee that will be especially important in professional activity: readiness for change, readiness for constructive “creative” destruction, readiness for irrational actions, possession of highly developed emotional intelligence, media literacy, etc. A person who is ready to act in a situation of diversity and uncertainty is a preadaptant. It is becoming increasingly obvious that the model of an effective manager is moving to the background. Already today, companies that determine the future are headed not by effective managers, but by preadaptant individuals. In a world characterized by constant and intensive change, those organizations that have a large number of leaders with high emotional intelligence will possess not only greater creative potential but also the tools that allow them to be more flexible and to recover more successfully after shocks. The latter serves as an integral sign of the ability to cope with the destabilizing impact of various external factors.
Students and teachers took an active part in discussing these issues, which are important from a practical point of view. Since an adequate understanding of the current realities of the labor market will help future graduates in successful employment, it is undeniable that the higher the level of existing competencies, the more valuable the specialist.
