On February 19, an interactive meeting with students was held at Karaganda Industrial University, посвящённая вопросам профилактики харассмента и формирования безопасной образовательной среды. The event was conducted in the format of an open and trusting dialogue with the participation of the Head of the University’s Psychological Service and the Ombudsperson.
The theme of the meeting — “Boundaries. Respect. Safety.”
— became the basis for a substantive discussion about personal boundaries, the
culture of interpersonal communication, and everyone’s responsibility for the
atmosphere within the academic community. During the discussion, the concepts
of personal space and consent were clarified, the main forms of harassment —
verbal, non-verbal, and behavioral manifestations — were examined, as well as
their impact on an individual’s psychological well-being.
The Head of the Psychological Service подробно explained
how to recognize situations involving violations of personal boundaries, what
steps can be taken to protect oneself, and how to obtain professional support.
The Ombudsperson, in turn, clarified the procedure for обращения in cases of
conflict or disputable situations, emphasizing the importance of respecting
students’ rights and the mechanisms for their protection within the university
environment.
Students were offered practical case studies for joint
analysis, which allowed them not only to gain theoretical knowledge but also to
develop skills for constructive response. Particular attention was paid to
mutual respect, communication ethics in the educational process and in the
digital space, as well as to fostering a culture of zero tolerance for any
manifestations of discrimination and pressure.
Such events contribute to enhancing students’ legal and
psychological literacy, developing emotional intelligence, and strengthening
the principles of respect, equality, and safety within the academic community.
