On April 9, Karaganda
Industrial University hosted a regional Olympiad in financial literacy among
college and university students, bringing together 32 participants. The event
became an example of a practice-oriented approach to developing and assessing
competencies within the Micro-credentials concept.
The Olympiad was
aimed at developing financial culture, analytical thinking, and a responsible
attitude toward personal finances. Participants demonstrated knowledge and
applied skills in budgeting, investing, lending, and risk assessment, which
correspond to key competencies востребованные in the modern labor market.
The format of the
event allowed not only to assess theoretical knowledge but also to evaluate
practical skills, which is an important component of the micro-qualifications
(Micro-credentials) system focused on validating specific skills and learning
outcomes.
The event partner was
the project FINGRAM by Dmitriy Kazantsev (K The GAME), which provided the prize
fund and supported the development of practical financial skills among youth.
Based on the results
of the Olympiad, winners and prize-winners were determined, and all
participants gained valuable practical experience that can be considered as
part of building an individual skills portfolio within the lifelong learning
model.
Olympiad winners:
— 1st place — Assel Dubrovina
(Temirtau Vocational and Technical College);
— 2nd place — Aidana Altai (Temirtau Vocational and Technical College);
— 3rd place — Dulat Karamyrzaev (Karaganda Medical University, School of
Nursing Education) and Muslim Gelashvili (Karaganda College of Digital
Technologies and Design).
Thus, holding such
Olympiads contributes to the implementation of Micro-credentials elements,
enabling the recording, assessment, and recognition of specific skills of
learners, increasing their competitiveness and readiness for professional
activities.
