Erasmus+ GDCAU Training: Updating Courses Based on Sustainable Education Principles

On December 9–10, Karaganda Industrial University hosted a training session within the framework of the Erasmus+ GDCAU project entitled “Training of Trainers: Updating Courses Based on Sustainable Education.” The event aimed at modernizing course syllabi to integrate principles of sustainable development.

The training was delivered by senior experts G.S. Dairbekova and B.A. Zhautikov.

Participants explored the key elements of sustainable education:
— systems and interdisciplinary thinking;
— multi-perspective approaches to complex issues;
— intercultural understanding;
— responsibility toward future generations;
— value-based approaches and working with complexity.

Faculty members worked with real-life case studies, examined ways to integrate environmental, social, and economic dimensions into teaching, and practiced interactive learning methods such as simulations, role-playing, and practical exercises. These approaches help not only to transfer knowledge but also to foster sustainability values.

During group work, participants learned to identify the interconnections between environmental, social, and economic aspects and to integrate the Sustainable Development Goals into academic programs.

Sustainable education is a step toward shaping a future-oriented mindset. Karaganda Industrial University continues to promote modern approaches to ensure that every classroom becomes a space for positive change.
