From June 8 to 12, Karaganda Industrial University hosted a Corporate
Training Week titled "Professional Competencies of a Higher Education
Instructor." The event brought together faculty members to discuss current
issues in modern education development, digital transformation, academic
integrity, inclusive education, and the implementation of innovative
technologies.
On the first day, faculty members participated in two educational
sessions. Angelika Vasilyevna Yaruta, Head of the KarIU Psychological Service,
conducted a training session entitled "Personal Boundaries in the
Workplace," focusing on professional interaction, the prevention of
emotional burnout, and the development of a healthy corporate culture. The
second session was led by Nursulu Zhalgasbayevna Suleimenova, Head of the
Methodological Support Department at BMG UpSkill × Coursera. Participants
explored modern approaches to the development of Massive Open Online Courses
(MOOCs), instructional design, the use of artificial intelligence in creating
educational content, and the opportunities offered by the Coursera platform for
university instructors.
The second day of the training week focused on management, digital
security, and academic integrity. Zinaida Sergeyevna Gelmanova, Candidate of
Economic Sciences and Professor of the Department of Economics and Business,
delivered a seminar entitled "Managerial Mindset: Cognitive Differences
Between Managerial and Executive Thinking in the Context of Digital
Transformation." Vadim Yevgenyevich Chvanov, Director of the Department
of Digitalization and Cybersecurity, discussed the principles of ensuring information
security in the workplace. The program concluded with a presentation by Akmaral
Kuzhiyeva, Development Manager at StrikePlagiarism.com, who introduced modern
approaches to promoting academic integrity in the educational environment.
Special attention during the week was devoted to the implementation of
innovative technologies in engineering education. Nikolay Nikolayevich Zobnin,
Head of the Commercialization Sector, conducted a seminar entitled "The
Use of Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality in Course Design Projects
Incorporating Research Elements." Participants examined the potential of
artificial intelligence for automated design, Python-based modeling of
technological processes, and the use of VR technologies to assess the safety
and ergonomics of industrial facilities. Particular interest was generated by
examples of integrating digital solutions into the design of metallurgical
production facilities, as well as the application of modern engineering and BIM
systems in training future specialists.
On June 11, seminars were held on intelligent technologies and
international opportunities for professional development. Anastasia Olegovna
Chvanova, Director of the Department of Strategy and Internationalization and
Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence Technologies, presented
intelligent agents developed at KarIU for students, faculty members, and
university staff. During the event, PI-22 students Anna Nurmanbayeva and Nikita
Poluboyartsev demonstrated their own developments: the AI Syllabus Generator,
designed to automate syllabus creation, and the AI Library Assistant, a project
aimed at monitoring the availability of library resources for educational
programs. In the second part of the meeting, participants learned about current
opportunities for international internships and summer schools and received
recommendations on preparing application documents for participation in
international educational programs.
The training week concluded on June 12 with the seminar "Inclusive
Education and Universal Design for Learning (UDL)." Participants discussed
modern approaches to creating an accessible educational environment, the
regulatory and legal framework of inclusive education in the Republic of
Kazakhstan, and practical mechanisms for implementing the principles of
Universal Design for Learning within the university’s educational process.
During practical activities, faculty members developed solutions for various categories
of learners, including working students, international students, and students
with special educational needs. Particular attention was paid to eliminating
academic, organizational, and digital barriers, as well as updating teaching
and learning materials in accordance with the principles of accessibility and
inclusiveness.
The Corporate Training Week served as an effective platform for
professional dialogue, experience sharing, and the adoption of modern
educational technologies. The events once again demonstrated Karaganda
Industrial University’s commitment to the continuous development of faculty
competencies, the implementation of innovative solutions, and the enhancement
of higher education quality in the era of digital transformation.
