Attention! Scammers!

Attention! Currently, cases of malicious software being distributed and installed on mobile devices running the Android operating system have been recorded. For detailed information on how to protect yourself from fraudsters, please refer to the official KarIU website.

Cybercriminals use various methods of infection:

·                  distribution of phishing links via messengers and social networks;

·                  fake mobile applications;

·                  malicious applications disguised as photos, videos, and documents;

·                  messages sent on behalf of government agencies, banks, and delivery services;

·                  phone calls made on behalf of various organizations under the pretext of participating in a promotion or giveaway, where installation of an application is required.

After installing such software, criminals gain remote access to the device, which may lead to the following consequences:

·                  theft of funds from bank accounts;

·                  issuance of online loans without the owner’s knowledge;

·                  access to personal data, photos, and correspondence;

·                  use of accounts for further distribution of fraudulent messages;

·                  blocking of the device followed by a ransom demand.

For protection purposes, we recommend:

·                  not installing applications at the request of third parties;

·                  not sharing SMS verification codes with third parties;

·                  not following suspicious links;

·                  checking permissions of installed applications;

·                  using antivirus software;

·                  enabling notifications of banking transactions.

Signs of installed malicious software:

·                  rapid battery drain;

·                  the mobile device overheats more than usual;

·                  unfamiliar application icons appearing on the screen that you did not install.

If signs of infection are detected, immediately disconnect the device from the Internet, contact your bank to block transactions, and report the incident to law enforcement authorities.

Be vigilant and do not trust suspicious applications. Digital security is the responsibility of every user.
