On September 7,
Karaganda Industrial University held a meeting with first-year students
dedicated to Family Day. Together with psychologists, doctors, and specialists
from city services, the students discussed what healthy relationships are based
on, why it is important to take care not only of physical but also
psychological well-being, and how a person’s daily decisions affect the health
of their loved ones.
Family is a place
where a person receives support, learns to trust, care for others, and take
responsibility. That is why the organizers suggested considering family
well-being from several perspectives at once: psychological health,
communication culture, disease prevention, and the development of healthy
habits.
The meeting was
opened by Mayra Asilova, a psychologist at the Multidisciplinary Hospital of
Temirtau. She introduced first-year students to the activities of the Youth
Health Center and explained what kind of assistance young people can receive.
Particular attention was paid to psychological support and the importance of
seeking professional help in a timely manner if it is not possible to cope with
emotional experiences and difficulties independently.
The topic of
psychological well-being was continued by Irina Trubacheva, a psychologist at
the Multidisciplinary Hospital of Temirtau. Her presentation focused on healthy
relationships. Students learned why respect, trust, the ability to listen to
each other, and calmly discuss emerging problems are the foundation of strong
relationships between people.
The specialist
emphasized that caring for a loved one should be expressed not only through
words. It is important to respect their personal boundaries, take their
feelings into consideration, and provide support in difficult situations.
The connection
between family, health, and lifestyle was discussed by Altınay Musina, a
general practitioner specializing in healthy lifestyles. Her presentation was
based on the well-known idea: “Отан отбасынан басталады” — “The Homeland begins with the family.” The
discussion focused on habits formed at home that subsequently influence a
person’s well-being, behavior, and life principles.
Participants were
reminded that a responsible attitude toward health includes proper nutrition,
physical activity, giving up harmful habits, undergoing preventive medical
examinations, and seeking medical assistance in a timely manner. Following
these principles is important not only for oneself: by maintaining their own
health, a person also cares for the well-being of their family.
A separate part of
the meeting was dedicated to the prevention of infectious diseases. Tatyana
Khismyatullova, a psychologist at the Temirtau AIDS Center, delivered a lecture
on HIV prevention. The information was supplemented with a thematic
presentation and video material.
The lecture
entitled “Prevention of Infectious Diseases: Health Begins with You” was
delivered by Alpesсh Shuganova, a physician from the sanitary and epidemiological service.
She explained what simple measures can help reduce the risk of spreading
infections and protect not only oneself but also those around us. Students were
reminded of the importance of personal hygiene, prevention, and timely medical
consultation when concerning symptoms appear.
Practical
recommendations were also provided to first-year students by Zhazira
Yesmakhanova, a medical worker at Karaganda Industrial University. She spoke
about the importance of paying close attention to one’s well-being and the
actions that should be taken when one’s health condition deteriorates.
The event was not
only a celebration of Family Day but also a meaningful discussion about the
values that determine the quality of life of every individual. After all, a
strong and happy family begins with simple things — attention, trust, care, and
the willingness to support one another.
