History of the Faculty

The Faculty of Energy, Transport and Control Systems was reorganized from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Technology and Automation in September 2017. From 2017 to August 2020, the faculty was headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor Zhabalova Gulnara Gazizovna. In the 2020-2021 academic year, the position of dean was held by PhD Kharchenko Elena Mikhailovna. From May 2021 to November 2021, the position of dean was held by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Honorary Professor of the Academy of Technology and Management of the Chuvash Republic Umbetov Umirbek Umbetovich. From December 2021 to November 2022, the position of dean was held by Candidate of Chemical Sciences Makhmutov Bolat Bizhanovich. From December 2022, the position of dean was held by senior lecturer, specialist Shayakhmetova Gulmira Aubakirovna. Since September 2024, the dean of the faculty is Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor Zhabalova Gulnara Gazizovna.

About the faculty

The faculty consists of four departments, of which three graduate departments: Energy (head of the PhD department Kamarova S.N.); Technological machines and transport (head of the Department, PhD, Associate Professor Bestembek E.S.); Physical education (head of the department, Master of Sports Kolesnikova R.K.); Artificial Intelligence technologies (acting head of the Department Chvanova A. O.).
The faculty currently employs a highly qualified teaching staff, including 2 Doctors of Sciences, 7 PhD, 10 candidates of Sciences, 20 Masters of Sciences, 2 masters of Sports.
The training of specialists in the field of electric power industry has been carried out for more than 30 years (the first set of students since 1988), in the field of thermal power engineering – for more than 30 years (since 1989), in the field of information technology – for more than 15 years (since 2009), in the field of automation and control for more than 20 years (since 1999). The graduation of 16 mechanical engineers took place in 1975.
In 2024, the Department of Physical Education was re-established. At various times, Honored coach of Kazakhstan in judo and sambo wrestling, Master of Sports of the USSR Filatov Sergey Alexandrovich, Honored Master of Sports, twenty-time world Champion in powerlifting Sivokon Alexey Nikolaevich, Master of Sports of International class in rowing Dmitrieva Irina Yuryevna, Master of Sports of international class in weightlifting Meleshko Oleg Viktorovich have worked and are working in this department. Master of Sports of the USSR in cycling Kolesnikova Raisa Kasimovna.

Students studying at the Faculty of Energy, Transport and Control Systems study socio-humanitarian, fundamental, economic, and general education disciplines: theoretical and applied mechanics, lifting and transport machinery and machine parts, electrical engineering and automated control systems, and a cycle of special disciplines in the relevant specialty.
As the main base for conducting all types of production practice, the only metallurgical plant in the Central Asian region with a full technological cycle is JSC Qarmet.
During their studies, students undergo practical training at such enterprises as: Kurylysmet LLP, QazTehna LLP, BasselGroup LLS LLP, PrintCom Service Center, Boehmer-Armatura LLP, Kazakhmys Energy LLP, Gordorservice LLP, etc., where they acquire practical skills, necessary for successful work in your chosen specialty.
