History of the Faculty
The Faculty of Metallurgy and Mechanical Engineering was reorganized from the Faculty of Metallurgy and Construction in 2017. Training of specialists is carried out in accordance with the credit system of education. In 2010-2012, the dean of the faculty was Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Tanaguzov B.T. From January 2013, the dean of the faculty was Candidate of Technical Sciences Smailov S.A., from September 2014 the dean was Associate Professor, Candidate of Technical Sciences Zhabalova G.G., from September 2017 the faculty was headed by Associate Professor, Candidate of Technical Sciences Musin D.K., from September 2021 to August 2024 the faculty was headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor Zhabalova G.G. From September 2024 to August 2025, the faculty was headed by PhD, Associate Professor Yerzhanov A.S., and currently the faculty is headed by PhD Yesbolat A.B.
About the faculty
The faculty includes three departments: the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Science (Head of Department – PhD Kharchenko E.M.); the Department of Metal Forming (Head of Department – PhD Ainabekova S.S.); the Department of Chemical Technology and Ecology (Head of Department – Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor Kabieva S.K.).
Three departments – Metallurgy and Materials Science, Metal Forming, Chemical Technology and Ecology are graduating departments. The faculty trains bachelors and masters in metallurgy, mechanical engineering, chemical technology and industrial safety, as well as PhD doctors in doctoral studies in metallurgy, materials science, nanotechnology and chemical technology of organic substances.
Currently, a highly qualified teaching staff works at the faculty.
Students study disciplines in the profile of their chosen specialty, as well as general professional, natural science and social-humanitarian disciplines. Students acquire professional skills in their specialty during industrial and research internships at enterprises of the city, the Republic and abroad. There is an opportunity to study at other universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan and abroad (USA, Spain, Czech Republic, Poland, Bulgaria, Germany, etc.) under the academic mobility program. Foreign specialists are invited to teach.
