What Educators Should Consider When Using AI: Methodological Recommendations Developed

The methodological foundations for integrating AI technologies into school practice have been approved in Kazakhstan. Specific requirements and restrictions are detailed in a document developed by the I. Altynsarin National Academy of Education.

The core principle of the methodology is that artificial intelligence does not replace the teacher. AI is considered only as a tool to help prepare lessons, adapt materials, and perform analysis. The right to assess students, choose educational content, and make final decisions remains entirely within the teacher's competence. Full automation of learning outcomes is not allowed; therefore, any material prepared by AI must undergo teacher verification.

The document pays special attention to digital security. In particular, students' personal data must not be entered into third-party services, and platforms used in lessons must comply with legal requirements. Furthermore, special emphasis is placed on maintaining academic integrity. Students cannot submit AI-generated work as their own, and teachers may re-assign tasks if necessary.

The methodological recommendations provide teachers with ready-made algorithms and scenarios for using services such as Canva, ChatGPT, Gemini, Storybook, NotebookLM, Reading Coach, Google Lens, and others in the classroom. This reduces the teacher's administrative workload and allows for the adaptation of educational materials to the individual characteristics of the student.

The methodological recommendations are available on the official website of the I. Altynsarin National Academy of Education. They can be used by teachers, methodologists, heads of educational organizations, and students. This step is aimed at systematically supporting the digital transformation of schools.
