Kazakhstani Universities Prepare for Pilot Implementation of Google AI Solutions After BETT 2026

As part of the delegation of universities from the Republic of Kazakhstan at the exhibition, heads of 29 universities were presented with solutions for forming the Google Workspace digital educational environment, including Gemini and NotebookLM tools focused on supporting the learning process, scientific activity, and management analytics. It was noted that to date, 15 universities in Kazakhstan are already using Gemini and NotebookLM within the secure Google Workspace corporate environment in compliance with personal data and user information protection requirements.

The key event of the program was a separate working meeting between the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, and Google's Head of Higher Education, Anna Artemyeva, as well as the Director of Stem Solutions, Dias Bakasarin, Google's partner in Central Asia.

During the meeting and subsequent discussions with university representatives, international examples of AI solution implementation in higher education were reviewed. In particular, the experience of the University of Oxford was presented, where Gemini was implemented as part of a pilot program, and a decision was made to provide NotebookLM to all faculty and students as a tool for supporting learning and academic work.

The parties discussed approaches to using artificial intelligence not only in the educational process but also in university management – including educational data analytics, faculty support, personalization of learning, and increasing the efficiency of administrative processes. Following the negotiations, formats for launching pilot projects in Kazakhstan's university environment were outlined.

According to the delegation members, the experience presented at BETT 2026 confirms that higher education is moving to a new stage – from infrastructure digitalization to the systemic use of artificial intelligence in academic and management processes. The reached agreements and international practices are planned to be used in the implementation of educational and digital initiatives in Kazakhstan.
