By 2026, every university lecturer in Kazakhstan will have mastered artificial intelligence

More than half of the country's academic staff — 54% — have already completed AI training, reports a correspondent of the Kazinform agency.

— Among them, 7,757 lecturers have finished certified courses. Next year we will achieve full coverage, — said Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Dinara Shcheglova at a briefing at the SCC on the implementation of the AI-Sana program.

As noted, AI technologies are also being introduced at the level of university infrastructure. Today, 137 AI agents are operating across 80 universities in Kazakhstan, with another 363 in development.

According to the Deputy Minister, the new intelligent solutions include an AI admissions committee, AI-Check, AI proctoring, AI lecturer, AI library, AI psychologist, and other digital assistants.

Specialized centers and laboratories are being established to support research and personnel training, bringing together science, education, and innovation.

The head of the Department of the Committee for Higher and Postgraduate Education, Rysgul Kudretullayeva, noted that the training of AI specialists is being developed with the participation of national companies and leading enterprises.

— Today, universities are implementing educational programs such as "Applied Artificial Intelligence," "Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain Engineering," and "Artificial Intelligence in Medicine." Graduates of these programs acquire key skills — Python programming, working with libraries and frameworks (TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch), data analysis and visualization, natural language processing (NLP), working with big data and databases, as well as technology integration, — she emphasized.

At Eurasian National University in Astana, the AI-Sana program has evolved into an ecosystem that unites education, science, and innovation.

— It not only builds AI competencies but also creates real products — AI agents that solve practical tasks of the university, — said Gulmira Bekmanova, Vice-Rector for Digitalization of ENU.

Previously, the Head of State noted that universities must train specialists who meet the challenges of the new era.
