Karaganda Industrial University hosted the annual City Hackathon for school and college students “TemirTau-2023”
On April 6, 2023, Karaganda Industrial University hosted the annual City Hackathon for school and college students “TemirTau-2023”, organized by the Department of “Artificial Intelligence Technologies”. At the opening ceremony of the Hackathon, Vice-Rector for Research and International Relations Makhmutov Bolat Bizhanovich and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Sivyakova Galina Alexandrovna addressed its participants with a welcoming speech and wishes for a successful presentation of the developed IT projects.
12 projects were announced for participation in the City Hackathon “TemirTau-2023” from representatives of Temirtau Higher Polytechnic College, Technical and Economic College at Karaganda Industrial University, Temirtau Technical College, Lyceum No. 9, Lyceum School No. 14, Lyceum School No. 20, secondary schools No. 17 and No. 27, completed in the following areas:
- “Digital solutions in the field of ecology”;
- “Neural networks and artificial intelligence”;
- “Smart technologies around us”.
All three directions are extremely relevant, since the improvement and active implementation of IT technologies, artificial intelligence, digitalization are one of the priority trends of the economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Karaganda Industrial University is called upon to be the first and very significant link in the process of training specialists for this most innovative field of activity.
During the Hackathon, the participating teams presented their projects developed in these areas to the jury members. The jury consisted of:
- Lensky Daniil Vasilyevich – software engineer – network administrator of the 2nd category of the ArcelorMittal Temirtau Research Center;
- Titova Zhanna Ivanovna – Senior lecturer of the Department of “Artificial Intelligence Technologies” of NAO “CarIU”;
- Kosaeva Ulzhan Yerbolovna is a student of PI–20k group of the educational program “Software Engineering” of NAO “CarIU”.
The jury evaluated each Project on a 10-point scale based on a combination of the following criteria:
1) compliance of the project idea with the task within the Hackathon directions;
2) originality and innovation of the design solution;
3) thoroughness of the technical solution;
4) economic efficiency of the proposed design solution;
5) the quality of preparation of presentation materials and speeches.
6) the potential of the project.
According to the results of the hackathon, the prizes were distributed as follows.
The first place was taken by the team of KSU “School-Lyceum No. 20”: Lazarev Daniil, Kochetov Artemiy, Konstantinidi Ivan (team leader – Khametova Amina Zhulduzbekovna). The team presented the project “Recycling of PET plastic for 3D printer”.
The second place of the jury was awarded to Dmitry Schmidt, a student of the Temirtau Higher Polytechnic College, who presented the project “Voice Assistant – Amadeus” (heads: Shalganbai Gauhar Zhanapiyakyzy, Abai Rashidovich Omirbayev).
The third place was taken by the representative of KSU “School-Lyceum No. 20” Kochetov Artemiy, who developed the project “Plasma ionizer” (head – Akhmet Aliz).
The awarding of prizes to the winners of the Hackathon will take place at the Karaganda Industrial University on April 11, 2023.
