The war in Afghanistan has become heroic and tragic. It lasted more than 10 years. As part of a huge socialist state, the Kazakh land suffered huge losses in that war. In total, almost 22,000 people were sent from our republic to Afghanistan to fulfill their international duty. 947 of them died, 1,770 people were injured.
The veterans of Afghanistan know how much sorrow the war has brought. But the younger generation needs to remember the events of those terrible years, the heroic people who courageously fulfilled their international duty. After all, the history of the Afghan war is written in the blood of soldiers and the tears of their mothers, wives and children.
On February 13, the Karaganda Industrial University hosted a city conference dedicated to the 36th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan. The honored guests of the meeting were Temirtau internationalist warriors Sergey Areschenko, Aidar Kulataev and Nikolai Belyanin. Even when they were very young, they fearlessly stood up for the Motherland.
"Today, the Afghan events are a story that can no longer be changed, but lessons can be learned from it," Sapar Khamitov, head of the KarIU Staff, said in his welcoming speech. -
Dear veterans of Afghanistan! Your life path is an example of true patriotism, responsibility and maturity for the younger generation. Let today's conference be another reason to draw the attention of young people to those terrible events. After all, there is nothing worse than war!
Afghanistan veterans told about themselves: how they served in the army, how they got into the war. They shared some vivid memories of their time in Afghanistan. The students, in turn, noted that such meetings are very important. Live communication with veterans allows you to learn the whole truth firsthand.
