КARIU IS IN EUROPE! THE UNIVERSITY HAS BECOME A PART OF THE “GREEN” TRANSFORMATION OF CENTRAL ASIA.

From May 11 to May 14, 2025, an international seminar was held in Bremen (Germany) as part of the Green Deal for Central Asian Universities (GDCAU) project, the Green Course for Central Asian Universities. The event was held at the Constructor University and brought together university representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, as well as from Germany, Austria and Slovakia.

The goal of the GDCAU project is to make Central Asian universities active participants in sustainable development and bring them in line with modern environmental and social standards laid down in the European Green Course. We are talking about reviewing educational programs, introducing "green" skills, supporting partnerships with businesses, and improving the environmental performance of universities themselves.

Karaganda Industrial University (КarIU) is actively involved in this process. The seminar was attended by the heads of the departments of "Energy" Saule Kamarova and "Artificial Intelligence Technologies" Anastasia Chvanova. They presented a plan for the introduction of new training modules on sustainable development and environmentally responsible management, and also proposed a strategy for distributing the results of the project to students, teachers and the regional community.

In addition, during the seminar, participants discussed the creation of special Green Course Centers in universities, how to establish cooperation with companies to promote "green" initiatives, and how to make universities a driving force for an environmentally safe and socially responsible future.

KarIU's participation is also supported by the Karaganda Branch of the Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which acts as a scientific and organizational partner. This collaboration aims to make the university not only a place of learning, but also a hub for sustainable solutions and innovation for the entire region.

- It is important to note that the participation of Karaganda Industrial University in such an international project is not just a step towards modernization. This is an opportunity to increase the prestige of the university, establish contacts with foreign partners, attract investments in research and give students more opportunities for internships, internships and future employment," said Saule Kamarova.

This is also a big plus for the region as a whole: the development of environmental and sustainable technologies, the training of new generation specialists and the introduction of modern standards — all this makes Temirtau and the Karaganda region as a whole more attractive to businesses, investors and talented youth.

At the suggestion of the Karaganda branch of the Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, it is planned to open an artificial intelligence laboratory at the university in the near future.
