On September 25, 2025, an international scientific and technical conference dedicated to new horizons of low-carbon development in the world and Uzbekistan was held in Tashkent, on the basis of the National Research Institute of Renewable Energy Sources under the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of the conference, the rector of Karaganda Industrial University, Professor Bakhyt Akhatovich Zhautikov, delivered a report on "High-voltage direct current (HVDC) lines for the development of low-carbon energy: opportunities for cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan".
HVDC technologies are the basis for a sustainable energy future not only for Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, but also for the entire region: Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and China.
During the event, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Karaganda Industrial University and the National Research Institute of Renewable Energy. The document reinforces the parties' desire to develop long-term partnerships in the fields of science, higher education and training for the energy industry. The Memorandum provides for:
Academic exchange of students, undergraduates, doctoral students and teachers;
conducting joint lectures, seminars, internships and professional development courses;
development of educational programs, including double diplomas; •
implementation of scientific research in priority areas; •
organization of conferences, symposiums and publications;
Participation in international scientific projects and programs.
This initiative highlights the active participation of Karaganda Industrial University in the development of the international scientific and educational space and confirms its strategic role in the formation of cross-border partnership in the field of energy and innovation.
