On November 4, 2025, the international analytical agency QS Quacquarelli Symonds published the QS Asia University Rankings 2026, which became the largest in the project’s history. This year’s ranking includes 1,529 universities from 25 countries and territories in the region, with more than 550 higher education institutions entering the list for the first time.
The Karaganda Industrial University (KARIU) also achieved significant success. In the QS Asia University Rankings, the university was placed in the 951–1000 range, marking an important milestone and recognition of its academic potential.
It is worth noting that QS Asia 2026 applies an updated methodology adapted to regional priorities. The ranking considers 11 indicators, including academic and employer reputation (together accounting for 50% of the total weight), as well as new metrics such as the proportion of faculty with PhD degrees and academic mobility (the share of international students and faculty, exchange programs). These criteria emphasize the importance of high-quality academic staff and internationalization, which are particularly crucial for Asian universities.
The new ranking features 44 Kazakhstani universities, showing significant growth compared to last year (35 institutions). Thus, Kazakhstan holds a leading position in the region, accounting for more than half of Central Asia’s presence in the ranking (a total of 73 universities).
KARIU’s participation in this prestigious international ranking confirms the high level of its educational programs, competitiveness, and commitment to meeting global standards of educational quality. This achievement is the result of the professionalism and dedication of the entire university team — faculty, staff, and administration.
