On October 17, 2023, NJSC “Karaganda Industrial University” is holding a hackathon for students of universities and colleges in the Karaganda region, dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Karaganda Industrial University.
This Hackathon is an educational, design and communication forum for students of universities and colleges in the Karaganda region, aimed at solving current problems in the areas of machine learning, neural networks, Internet of Things, ecology, information security and cryptographic protection.
The purpose of the Hackathon is to identify and professionally develop teams that have developed the most promising design solutions in the directions of the Hackathon.
Order of conduct
Projects completed in the following directions are accepted to participate in the Hackathon:
- «Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning: Generative Neural Networks»;
- «IT technologies in ecology»;
- «Information security and cyber protection»;
- «Internet of things in public life and industry».
Participating teams present their projects developed in the above areas to the jury.
The project can be presented in Kazakh, Russian or English.
Project presentation duration is no more than 10 minutes.
Discussion of the Project, answers to questions – no more than 5 minutes.

The organizer and sponsor of the Hackathon is Karaganda Industrial University.
Applying for participation in the Hackathon
Persons wishing to take part in the Hackathon must send an application for participation by email to the Hackathon organizing committee tii@tttu.edu.kz by October 14, 2023 using the following form:
1) Full name of the participant(s);
2) name of university/college;
3) group;
4) chosen direction (1 of 4 proposed);
5) name of the project;
6) full name of the team leader (if available);
7) contact phone number (from WhatsApp);
8) contact e-mail.
The terms of participation
Both individual and team participation in the Hackathon are allowed. Number of participants – no more than 4 people per team. The number of teams from one educational institution is not limited. You can only take part in the Hackathon if you are physically present at the site.
Participation in the Hackathon is free for university and college students. Transportation costs, as well as expenses related to food, are at the expense of the participant or the sending party.
A Hackathon participant is a person who has submitted a correctly completed Application for participation in the Hackathon.
The task of each Hackathon Participant is to develop a project in accordance with one of the 4 directions of the Hackathon.
The developed design solution must meet the requirements of novelty, originality and the criteria presented below.
Evaluation criteria
The jury evaluates design solutions on a 10-point scale based on a combination of the following criteria:
1) compliance of the project idea with one of the established 4 directions of the Hackathon;
2) originality and innovation of the design solution;
3) elaboration of the technical solution;
4) economic efficiency of the proposed design solution;
5) quality of preparation of presentation materials and speeches.
6) potential of the design solution.
Summarizing
- The results of the Hackathon are summed up by the Organizing Committee and documented in a protocol.
- All Hackathon participants will be awarded certificates of participation.
- The winners are awarded valuable prizes.
