KARIU STUDENTS VISITED THE LOCAL HISTORY MUSEUM OF TEMIRTAU

In honor of the birthday of the national currency as a symbol of independence, KarIU students visited the Local History Museum of Temirtau

As part of the celebration of the National Currency Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan, students of Karaganda Industrial University visited the Local History Museum of Temirtau.

The National Currency Day is celebrated in Kazakhstan on November 15. Kazakhstan tenge turns 30 years old this year.

The name for the new currency was chosen symbolically and reflecting the historical essence. The word “tenge” comes from the medieval Turkic silver coins “dengue” or “tanga”, from which, in turn, the name of the Russian coin “denga” and the word “money” itself also originated. The smaller denomination of the currency was called “tiyn”.

The preparation of the design of the tenge was entrusted to the team of authors under the leadership of T. Suleimenov. It was decided to place on the front side portraits of the largest figures of Kazakhstan from various fields of culture, science and politics, combined with national ornaments, and on the reverse side – architectural monuments and picturesque views of Kazakhstan.

The national currency of Kazakhstan has its own symbol (〒). This graphic image of the tenge is a symbol of the ancient Turkic alphabet, which in transcription means the sound “t”, with which the word “tenge” begins, as well as the word “tengri”, which in translation into Russian means “deity personifying the sky”, which was sacred to all Turkic peoples.

As part of the tour, our students received a lot of information about the monetary and currency systems of Kazakhstan. In particular, they got acquainted with the history of the formation and development of the national currency of our country, the technology of their production. The students saw that our currency coins and banknotes entered many international competitions and achieved great success.
