NOVEMBER 15 IS THE DAY OF THE NATIONAL CURRENCY OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

 

November 15 is the Day of the National currency of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s national currency, on November 15 of this year, students of Karaganda Industrial University visited an exhibition at the Local History Museum of Temirtau.
Today, the tenge is the economic basis of independence, a symbol of sovereignty, a full-fledged part of the modern history and future of Kazakhstan.
Historical background: On November 12, 1993, the First President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed a decree “On the introduction of the national currency of the Republic of Kazakhstan”. And since November 15, tenge has become a new unit of account in our country.
Banknotes of Kazakhstan have been receiving high marks at international exhibitions and competitions for a long time.
For three years in a row, from 2011 to 2013 inclusive, Kazakh banknotes were recognized as the best in the world. In 2014, the Kazakh commemorative banknote “KULTEGIN”, dedicated to the Turkic script, became the best banknote of 2013 according to this community.
In 1992, on May 26, a presidential decree was issued on the establishment of a printing factory of the National Bank of Kazakhstan. Already in June 1993, the first securities issuing workshop in the history of sovereign Kazakhstan was launched, where paper coins were issued.
Order for the production of banknotes in denominations of 1, 3, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 tenge was made by one of the English companies “HARRISON AND SONS”.
Simultaneously with the banknotes of the “Portraits” series, paper coins were issued in denominations 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50.
Tenge is the only currency in the world whose texts are duplicated in two languages, starting with a 500-tenge bill.
