Last December, 50 state scientific scholarships were awarded to talented young scientists of Kazakhstan. Andrey Volokitin, associate professor of Karaganda Industrial University, was among the chosen ones. And Erbol Kuatbai became the winner of the republican contest “The best university teacher – 2023”
The state scientific scholarship is 24 MCI, currently it is 88,608 tenge. The scholarship is paid every month for a year. The scholarship was awarded not only for scientific research, but also for achievements in the field of science. Various indicators were taken into account: scientific publications, research, participation in various projects and much more.
Andrey Volokitin works as an associate professor at the Department of Metalworking by pressure. Since 2020, Andrey Voloktin has been the head of three grant state budget topics for scientific and technical projects, two of which have been successfully completed (the third is in the works). He not only entered the 50 applicants for the scholarship, but also took the second place in this ranking in terms of indicators. – The results of my scientific activity are embedded in the educational process, – says Andrey Volokitin. – They allow you to popularize science among students. And scientific achievements related to the development of new technologies for metalworking by pressure make it possible to create new laboratory and practical work for students, undergraduates and doctoral students. Undergraduates and doctoral students are directly involved in our research projects, which allows them to engage in scientific activities. As for the scholarship, it is not targeted, but will be aimed at continuing ongoing research and publishing articles. Another КarIU teacher, Erbol Kuatbai, became the winner of the republican competition “The best university teacher – 2023”. This competition is held annually to enhance the prestige of the teaching profession and stimulate further professional development. The Republican competition Commission selected the best in the profession. In total, 768 applicants from 80 higher educational institutions of the country participated in the competition. Such indicators as the development and publication of electronic educational resources, materials, scientific publications in domestic and international journals, the availability of patents for inventions, etc. were evaluated. The quality of the applicant’s teaching was also assessed, as well as his work on training personnel in bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral studies. The winners were 150 teachers from 43 Kazakhstani universities. Each of them received a prize of 2000 MCI and a badge. Erbol Kuatbai is a senior lecturer at the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Science and a researcher at the Department of Science, Innovation and International Cooperation. His scientific and pedagogical experience is 13 years. The main scientific direction is the physico-chemical study of charge materials for the production of high-carbon ferrochrome and the development of technology for smelting high-carbon ferrochrome using high-ash coals.
