On February 26 of this year, the XVIII regional sports contest among students of the Karaganda region started in Karaganda.
The purpose of the Spartakiad is to promote a healthy lifestyle and introduce students to systematic sports, activate physical culture and mass work in universities, and promote national sports among students.
The championship among students will be held in 13 sports: kettlebell lifting, tug of war, Presidential all-around, table tennis, checkers, chess, togyz kumalak, asyk atu, basketball, soccer, volleyball, athletics, Kazakh kuresi.
According to the results of the first games, students of Karaganda Industrial University in kettlebell lifting took 2nd and 3rd place (Boranbayev Zhasulan PGS-22k - second place, Korsan Muratkhan PGS-22k - third place).
The Spartakiad will last from February 26 to March 5. During all the days, about 1,000 athletes from six universities of the region will take part in it:
- Karaganda Industrial University;
- A.Sagynov Karaganda Technical University;
- Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz;
- Bolashaq Academy;
- Karaganda Medical University;
- E. A.Buketov Karaganda University.
The general guide for the organization and holding of the Spartakiad is the KSU "Center for the Development of Mass and Children's Sports" of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Karaganda region.
