Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan: “A 30-year-long road”

On March 28, a meeting and lecture dedicated to the upcoming 30th anniversary of the Kazakh Parliament "The 30-year-long Road" was held at Karaganda Industrial University. Its history began when the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR was replaced by the Mazhilis and the Senate. Today, the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the highest representative body of the Republic exercising legislative power.

Alexey Lomakin, Chairman of the Maslikhat of Temirtau, addressed the students with welcoming words. He noted the special place of Parliament in the development of the state, as well as the importance of the active citizenship of every citizen of the country.

The speaker of the event was Oksana Gumenchuk, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of History of Kazakhstan and General Education Disciplines at KarIU. She introduced the students to the history of the creation of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. She also told how at the meetings of the working groups, first the Mazhilis, then the Senate, they hone each wording of the future law. They should be clear, unambiguous and take into account the interests of different segments of the population. Kazakhstani deputies also take into account international experience. They cooperate with all reputable parliamentary organizations of the world.

"Every bill and law after its adoption affects the lives of thousands of Kazakhstani families, affects entire industries and spheres of life of our state," Oksana Gumenchuk noted.

At the end, the students had the opportunity to ask their questions about the work of the Parliament. As the participants of the meeting noted, it turned out to be interesting, informative and useful.
