In March-April 2025, representatives of Karaganda Industrial University became participants of the prestigious Central Asian school of Environmental activism - Tereshkevich School – 2025. The guys from the Alive student eco-club, led by Nina Popova, Director of the Department of Educational Work and Youth Policy, successfully passed the competitive selection and became part of a multidisciplinary team working on projects in the following areas:
- Sustainable management of natural resources;
- reducing the carbohydrate footprint in cities;
- development of youth initiatives in the field of ecology;
- Environmental education and involvement of local communities.
The school annually gathers young leaders, students, researchers and activists who work on issues of sustainable development, environmental protection and environmental education. The audience has access to interviews and practical workshops from leading eco-experts and activists in Central Asia. This year, representatives of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and other countries took part in the school.
KarIU's participation in the Tereshkevich School – 2025 is an important step in the development of the university's environmental direction, which testifies to the high level of training of students and their involvement in current global challenges.
Following the results of the school, the concept of a student project aimed at improving environmental culture in the region was developed, which is planned to be implemented at the university as early as 2025.
All participants of the environmental school became certificate holders.
