On June 25, 2025, as part of the work of the Karaganda branch of the National Engineering Academy at Karaganda Industrial University, an important meeting was held with the participation of a leading scientist from South Korea, Professor Eun Chul Shin of Incheon National University.
The meeting was held in the format of a round table. In addition to the guest from South Korea, the roundtable was attended by Askar Zhussupbekov, Academician of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, President of the Kazakhstan Geotechnical Association, Director of the Geotechnical Institute of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, as well as the management and leading scientists of the Karaganda Industrial University.
The guest of the Karaganda Industrial University, Professor Yun Chul Shin, has published five books on geotechnical, geo-ecological, and civil engineering, as well as over 100 articles in scientific journals and 150 articles in conference proceedings. Professor Yun Chul Shin is the director of the Future City Design Creative Education Program, which is supported by the Korean Ministry of Education (project funding amount is 9 million US dollars). Professor Yun Chun Shin also made a significant contribution to the research of the United Nations Green Climate Fund (GCF) in 2012, Songdo, Incheon.
Incheon National University, which is represented by Professor Yun Chul Shin, is located in the Songdo International Business District of the Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ). The university was founded in 1979. Today, the university has 65 academic departments and programs, which are divided into 11 colleges and schools.
During the roundtable discussion, the participants discussed the cooperation between Karaganda Industrial University and Incheon National University in the fields of waste recycling, methane gas production, and the development of advanced technologies for underground construction. It was decided to establish cooperation between Incheon National University and Karaganda Industrial University with the assistance and support of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. A memorandum of cooperation was signed between Karaganda Industrial University and Incheon National University.
During the meeting, there was also an exchange of views on the possibilities of academic exchange of students and teachers, the discussion of joint educational programs, including double diplomas and advanced training programs, the prospects for joint research and publications, participation in international scientific and educational projects, and the possibility of organizing internships for doctoral students.
