КARIU HELD AN INTERNATIONAL ROUND TABLE ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF METALLURGY

On July 18, 2025, an international round table was held at the Karaganda Industrial University, dedicated to the celebration of Metallurgist's Day. The event took place online under the auspices of the National Engineering Academy and brought together leading industry experts from Kazakhstan and Russia.

The purpose of the round table was to strengthen the connection between science and industry, discuss current issues and prospects for the development of Kazakhstan's metallurgical sector, as well as support young specialists working on scientific projects within international programs.

During the event, participants discussed modern trends in metallurgy, the implementation of innovative technologies, issues related to the training of engineering personnel, and the exchange of experience between countries. Special attention was given to personal success stories, which became an inspiring example for future engineers and scientists.

One of the speakers of the round table was the renowned foreign scientist — Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, and Head of the Steel and Ferroalloys Laboratory at the Institute of Metallurgy of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Oleg Vadimovich Zayakin, who presented a report on the issues of raw material security in metallurgical production.

The report by the production representative — Managing Director of "Caspian Steel Limited" Murat Dyusenovich Zhukenov — attracted significant interest. He shared with the participants the key projects implemented with the participation of his company, including the opening of a large-diameter steel longitudinally welded pipe plant for the oil extraction sector in the city of Aktau, as well as the launch of a new steel strip production technology.

One of the most interesting presentations was given by the young researcher from Karaganda Industrial University, Myngjasar Esmurat Amanghaliuly, who is currently undergoing a scientific internship under the "500 Scientists" program at Hanyang University in Seoul, Republic of Korea, starting from April 2025. The speaker presented the current results of his research obtained during the internship and provided insights into the main directions of metallurgy development in South Korea.

The event brought together representatives from universities, research institutions, and production enterprises, allowing for direct dialogue between the academic community and industry. The Zoom platform made participation accessible to a wide audience, including students, faculty, and industrial sector representatives.

Karaganda Industrial University thanks all the participants of the round table and expresses confidence that such events will contribute to the further development of metallurgy and engineering science in the country.
