On September 26, the Karaganda Industrial University (КarIU) hosted a solemn awarding ceremony for the winners of the regional ecological Olympiad "Ecosana". This significant event brought together the best students of the region, who showed knowledge, initiative and concern for environmental issues.
The Olympiad was held in an online format and brought together participants from five higher educational institutions of the Karaganda region. The students had to answer difficult questions related to environmental issues and sustainable development. Despite the high level of assignments, the КarIU students showed impressive results: 39 people received diplomas and valuable gifts at once. Such a large-scale success makes the university a leader in the number of awardees and participation in general.
Saule Ainabekova, Acting Vice—Rector for Research and International Relations at КarIU: "It is important to note that the participation of КarIU students was absolutely voluntary - the guys took the initiative themselves, without coercion. This is clear evidence that young people are really concerned about environmental issues and strive to be a part of positive change. As the participants themselves noted, the tasks were interesting and informative, and participation in the Olympiad was not only a challenge, but also an opportunity to broaden horizons."
The Olympiad was organized by the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management of the Karaganda region as part of the implementation of the Concept of the development of ecological culture "Clean Kazakhstan" for 2024-2029. The Ecosana Olympiad is held as part of the Ecocourse project aimed at developing environmental literacy among young people.
Guldana Telepova, representative of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management of the Karaganda region: "The Ecocourse project is an important step towards building an environmentally responsible society through education and involving students in real environmental initiatives. It contributes not only to the acquisition of knowledge, but also to the formation of values focused on sustainable development and responsible environmental management."
КarIU has once again confirmed the status of a university that educates caring and active young people who are ready to contribute to the future of their country and the planet as a whole.
