President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s Address to the Nation outlined a clear and bold course toward building a technologically advanced and economically strong Kazakhstan. Many of the initiatives announced are directly aligned with the directions in which Karaganda Industrial University is working and developing.
The establishment of the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and the launch of a supercomputer are historic steps, showing that Kazakhstan is seriously committed to a digital breakthrough. We are proud that KarIU was the first university in the country to open a Department of Artificial Intelligence Technologies, and we are ready to contribute to training qualified specialists and developing national solutions in this field.
Another important decision is the acceleration of the adoption of the Digital Code, the creation of a State Digital Assets Fund, and a Center for Regulatory Intelligence. These steps will enable more flexible regulation of rapidly developing sectors such as blockchain, AI, and the digital economy. We see this as an opportunity to expand scientific research and startup activity within the university environment.
The President also emphasized industrial policy: reducing dependence on imports, encouraging exports, developing the real sector, and sparking young people’s interest in engineering professions. This fully aligns with the mission of our university — to prepare highly qualified specialists for industry, including the mining and metallurgical sectors, and to support technological initiatives of domestic enterprises.
Updates to business legislation, development of new transport and construction solutions (including those using AI), and the transition to eco-friendly and digital water resource management all open new opportunities for interdisciplinary projects — and the university is ready to be actively involved.
This Address inspires us to move forward and clearly reaffirms: the future lies in science, technology, education, and strong industry. KarIU will continue to work closely with national and sectoral priorities to prepare a generation capable not just of adapting to change, but of creating that change in the very heart of Kazakhstan.
