“TOGYZKUMALAK DAY IN KARIU: FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS MAINTAIN NATIONAL TRADITIONS AND INTELLECTUAL HERITAGE.”

On September 9, KarIU hosted exciting competitions among first—year students dedicated to the Day of togyzkumalak, a national intellectual game that occupies an important place in the cultural heritage of Kazakhstan. This day has become not only a holiday, but also a reminder of how important it is to preserve and develop our traditions.
Togyzkumalak is not just a game. This is a real school for the mind, developing intelligence, logical and systematic thinking, as well as the ability to count quickly. It is included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list as a significant contribution of the Kazakh nation to world culture. The game was popular among great Kazakh thinkers such as Abai, who not only played togyzkumalak himself, but also organized competitions, promoting this intellectual tradition among young people.
КarIU students were happy to participate in the competition, demonstrating excellent knowledge and skills of the game. This day has become a real holiday that unites students in support of national traditions and values. The participants showed how important it is not only to preserve cultural heritage, but also to actively develop it in the modern world. Inspired by the example of their great ancestors, they proudly continued the togyzkumalak tradition, declaring their willingness to carry it on.
