- 1980 – graduated from the faculty of mechanics and technology of Karaganda Polytechnic Institute, specialty «Machines and technology of foundry».
- 1985-1988 – studied at the full-time graduate school of the Moscow Institute of steel and alloys, specialty «Metallurgy of ferrous metals».
- 1988 – defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of technical Sciences, specialty 05.16.02 «Metallurgy of ferrous metals» (Moscow Institute of steel and alloys).
