A PREVENTIVE MEETING ON THE TOPIC “HIV INFECTION” WAS HELD AT KARAGANDA INDUSTRIAL UNIVERSITY. HIV PREVENTION”.

On February 8, a preventive meeting was held at Karaganda Industrial University on the topic "HIV infection. HIV prevention". The speakers of the meeting were the psychologist of the regional AIDS control center Hismyatullova Tatyana Vasilyevna and the social pedagogue Ashenbrener Elena Sergeevna.

During the meeting, they talked about the ways of HIV infection, the first symptoms, ways to prevent it and how to avoid it.

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is an infection that affects the body's immune system. The latest stage of HIV infection is acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).

HIV affects white blood cells, which leads to a weakening of the immune system. This increases the likelihood of developing diseases such as tuberculosis, infectious diseases and some types of cancer.

HIV infection is treatable and preventable with antiretroviral therapy (ART). If left untreated, HIV infection can turn into AIDS, often many years after infection.

HIV can be transmitted through various bodily fluids of people living with HIV, such as blood, breast milk, seminal fluid and vaginal secretions. HIV can also be transmitted to a child during pregnancy and delivery. There is no transmission of infection during normal daily contacts such as kissing, hugging and shaking hands, or when sharing personal items and eating food or water.
