It is no secret that for any university, the defense of dissertations for academic degrees is a prestigious and significant matter.
The defense of doctoral works is carried out within the framework of the 60th anniversary of the Karaganda Industrial University, which will be celebrated in October this year. Nurbek Aitkenov was the first to publicly defend his dissertation. The topic of his work is devoted to the development of technology for processing a mixture of converter sludge and slag to produce metallized products. But Yerbol Kuatbai, who also claims to be a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), the purpose of his dissertation is to develop a rational resource-saving technology for smelting carbonaceous ferrochrome using high-ash coals of the Saryadyr deposit.
As noted by: Asylbek Nuramgaliyev, Professor of the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Science of Karaganda Industrial University: «All conditions have been created at the university for conducting research. We are implementing 18 projects in the research field. In particular, doctoral students who are defending themselves today participate in these projects, in youth projects and in postdoctoral projects.»
It is worth noting that the dissertation Council includes not only leading scientists of Karaganda Industrial University, but also scientists from other domestic and foreign higher educational institutions. The teaching staff of the Industrial University is 125 people, including 8 doctors of sciences, 35 candidates of sciences, 12 PhD. In addition, 11 teachers have the title of «Honorary Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan».

We will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the university. We are now at a breakthrough stage in science.»
You can’t list all the scientific achievements of the University. But it is important that KarIU is one of the 10 Kazakh universities – winners in the framework of the Going Global Partnerships program conducted by the British Council.
