“ACADEMICIAN KANYSH SATPAYEV: A PERSONALITY OF A PLANETARY SCALE”

Under this name, on April 19, a mini-conference dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of academician, public and statesman Kanysh Satpayev was held at Karaganda Industrial University. The event was attended by students of Temirtau colleges and universities. The event was organized by NAO КarIU (DVRiMP, КarIU Library) and KSU Youth Resource Center.

The work of the conference began with an introductory exhibition, where the scientist's books were presented, as well as watching a video clip. The video shows Kanysh Satpayev, an outstanding geologist and scientist who presented the Kazakh underground wealth to the whole world. Since 1926, Kanysh Satpayev has studied the Zhezkazgan, Karsakbai, Ulytau, Torgai, Atbasar and Yesil deposits. All the elements of chemistry can be found in the minerals he found. Satpayev founded the Kazakh Academy of Sciences, as well as the Institute of Geology. He was not only a geologist, scientist, but also a writer, historian and mathematician, the first Kazakh academician.

Then, as part of the conference, a tournament was held among students to learn facts from the life of Kanysh Satpayev. The students prepared and presented to the jury reports on the most important stages of the great scientist's activity. The performance of the participants turned out to be interesting, lively and informative. As a result, four students were among the winners. The first place was taken by KarIU student Kundebai Nursezim. In second place is KarIU student Kalmyrza Nursultan. The third place was shared by students of the fuel and energy complex: Kazbekov Olzhas and Aliyeva Sabina. The winners received valuable prizes provided by the Youth Resource Center.

As the participants of the mini-conference noted, such events are very important for students. They help to form a sense of pride and respect for historical figures, great scientists of our country. In addition, they foster a sense of patriotism and a sense of pride in their homeland. And the format of the event in the form of a tournament calls for honest competition, unwittingly teaching students to analyze, draw conclusions, and reason freely.
