1972 – Section of «General Electrical Engineering» of the Department of «Physics" of the Plant–VTUZ at KMK (head of the section acting associate Professor Abdibaev M.A.).

1976 – Department of «General Electrical Engineering and Electrical Equipment» (head Candidate of Technical Sciences Kasylkasov Zh.M.). Creation of laboratories: «Electric machines», «Electric circuits», and «Electric drive».

1988 – Renamed to the Department of «Electric Drive and Electrical Engineering». Head of the Department Ph.D. Suprunenko V.V.

1993 – Head of the department senior lecturer Sivyakova G.A. Creation of the laboratory «Automated electric drive».

1997 – Opening of a new specialty «Automation of technological processes and production». Renaming to the department «Electric drive and automation of technological processes».

2008 – Renamed to the Department of «Electric Power Engineering and Automation of Technical Systems».

2017 – Merged into the Department of «Power Engineering, Automation and Computer Engineering». Bachelor's degree training in four specialties 5B071800 «Electric power Engineering», 5B070200 «Automation and Control», 5B070400 «Computer engineering and Software», 5B071700 «Heat power engineering». 2019 – Transition to training in new bachelor's degree programs: 6B06101 - Software Engineering, 6B07106 - Automation Systems Engineering, 6B07105 - Energy supply of industrial facilities, 6B07104 (6B07111) - Heat power engineering of industrial companies and objects of housing and communal services. 2020 – Renaming to the Department of «Power Engineering».

2020 – Opening of a master's degree in the educational program 7M07112 – «Electric Power Industry».

2022 – Participation in the pilot project for the applied bachelor's degree «Heat power engineering of industrial enterprises» among 8 universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Head of the department Lelikova O.N.

Section «Heat Power Engineering»

1989 – on the basis of the Department «Metallurgical heat engineering and labor protection», a new specialty was opened on 22.04 «Industrial heat power Engineering», the department was headed by Ph.D. Govorov V.I.

1991 – the department received the status of a graduate and a new name «Industrial heat power Engineering and metallurgical heat Engineering».

2009 – the department joined the staff of the graduating department «Construction» as a section «Heat Power Engineering».

2017 – the section «Heat Power Engineering» became part of the department «Power Engineering, Automation and Computer Engineering».
