The teaching staff of the department performs the following tasks for the development of educational and methodological documentation in the state, Russian and English languages for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students:
- Creation and updating of educational and methodological complexes for various disciplines.
- Development and updating of electronic educational and methodological complexes.
- Preparation of methodological guidelines for the performance of coursework, laboratory and practical work, as well as for independent work of students.
- Development and updating of syllabuses.
- Writing textbooks, monographs and textbooks with the assignment of ISBN and © to them.
- Creation of electronic teaching materials and virtual laboratory work.
- Preparation and updating of test materials for knowledge control.
- Compilation and updating of lecture notes.
All educational and methodological documentation goes through the process of discussion at the meetings of the department, then it is coordinated with the Dean of the faculty and the director of the Department of Academic Policy, and finally approved by the Vice-rector for Academic Affairs.
Uniqueness of Our Educational Programs
The uniqueness of 6B06101 – Software Engineering lies in inclusive education, a practice-oriented approach (e.g., software interface design), and a combination of engineering disciplines with IT competencies such as big data processing, the Internet of Things, and software development.
The uniqueness of 6B06102 – Artificial Intelligence Technologies is its focus on practical training in the field of AI with an emphasis on neural networks, machine learning, and big data. The program is developed in alignment with professional standards and in collaboration with industry partners. It is also accessible to students with disabilities.
The uniqueness of 6B07106 – Automation Systems Engineering is its orientation toward training specialists in automation, process control and quality assurance, and the implementation of modern control methods, including IT competencies such as CAD, SMART technologies, AI systems, and SCADA systems.
The uniqueness and advantages of the Master's and Doctoral programs in Automation and Control include the integration of AI disciplines, opportunities to gain IT competencies through the Cisco Academy, training in modern automation systems (including MES and ERP), close cooperation with industry, involvement of international experts, and access to leading scientific databases.
Internship Bases and Partners
The department has established strong partnerships with industry and internship providers. Department branches operate at leading enterprises in the region, offering students hands-on experience in real-world professional settings. This cooperation helps students develop practical skills, improves employability, and ensures the curriculum aligns with labor market demands.
Notably, in December 2024, a dual education agreement was signed with KazMetallurgAvtomatika, allowing students to combine university study with work at the enterprise.

Our Achievements
April 2022 – A team of Software Engineering students (Zhumageldiev Mergen, Sumenko Nikolay, Krivoruchka Grigoriy, Komarov Vladislav) won 2nd place at the national student hackathon TemirTau SmartTech Hackathon.
April 2023 – PІ-21с student Gaukharov Nurkhat took 3rd place at the Republican Student Olympiad in the field of 6B06 Information and Communication Technologies.
November 2024 – Department students participated in the quarterfinals of the ICPC World Championship in Programming hosted by Astana IT University.
November 2024 – PІ-24k student Bauyrzhanuly Aiydyn advanced to the National Final of the Huawei ICT Competition 2024–2025.
November 2024 – Students Nemy Vyacheslav, Stepanov Evgeniy, Odintsov Maksim (PІ-23), Nosov Vyacheslav, Zhuykova Sofya (ISA-23), Nurzhanov Daniyar, Trofimchuk Alexander (PІ-22) took 1st place in the national hackathon SAP BTP Exploration Workshop: Nomad HackFest.
December 2024 – A dual education agreement was signed with KazMetallurgAvtomatika. Students Samigullin Nikita (ISA-22) and Bakhyt Yerlan (ISA-23) are studying under this program.
February 2025 – Nurzhanov Daniyar and Trofimchuk Alexander (PІ-22) won 2nd place in the national hackathon Application of AI for Predictive Maintenance in Metallurgy and Oil & Gas Industries.
April 2025 – Nosov Vyacheslav (ISA-23) won 3rd place in the Republican Olympiad on Theoretical Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering held at Satbayev University.
April 2025 – Students Nemy Vyacheslav, Stepanov Evgeniy, Odintsov Maksim (PІ-23), Nurzhanov Daniyar, Trofimchuk Alexander (PІ-22) reached the finals of the 8th International Youth Contest "My Business – 2025" (Miras University, Shymkent).
April 2025 – The same team reached the finals of the Republican Business Startup Competition "ERЕКЕТ–2025" at the Sherkhan Murtaza International Taraz University.
April 2025 – Stankevich Denis and Bubelis Jonas (PІ-24с) won 1st place at the Republican Scientific-Practical Conference "The Role of Science in Enhancing the Prestige of Engineering Labor" hosted by KarIU.
April 2025 – Nosov Vyacheslav (ISA-23), Adilkeshov Sultangali, and Uteev Aydar (PІ-23) took 2nd place at the same conference.
