History

The Faculty of Metallurgy and Mechanical Engineering was reorganized from the Faculty of Metallurgy and Construction in 2017. Training of specialists is carried out in accordance with the credit system of education. In 2010-2012, the Dean of the Faculty was Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Tanaguzov B.T. Since January 2013, the Dean of the Faculty was Candidate of Technical Sciences Smailov S.A., since September 2014, the Dean was Associate Professor, Candidate of Technical Sciences Zhabalova G.G., since September 2017, the Faculty was headed by Associate Professor, Candidate of Technical Sciences Musin D.K., from September 2021 to August 2024, the Faculty was headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor Zhabalova G.G. Since September 2024 and up to now the faculty has been headed by PhD, Associate Professor A.S. Yerzhanov.

The faculty includes three departments:

  • Department of Metallurgy and Materials Science (Head of Department – PhD Kuatbay Ye.K.);
  • Department of Materials Pressure Processing (Head of Department – PhD Ainabekova S.S.);
  • Department of Chemical Technology and Ecology (Head of Department – Cand. Sci. (Chem.), Associate Professor Kabieva S.K.).

Three departments – «Metallurgy and Materials Science», «Materials Processing by Pressure», «Chemical Technology and Ecology» are graduating departments. The faculty trains bachelors and masters in the areas of metallurgy, mechanical engineering, chemical technology and industrial safety, as well as PhD doctors in doctoral studies in metallurgy, materials science, nanotechnology and chemical technology of organic substances.

The faculty currently employs highly qualified faculty.

Students study both disciplines in the profile of the chosen specialty, and general professional, natural science and social and humanitarian nature. Students acquire professional skills in their specialty during industrial and research practices at enterprises of the city, the Republic and abroad. There is an opportunity to study at other universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan and outside the country (USA, Spain, Czech Republic, Poland, Bulgaria, Germany, etc.) under the academic mobility program. Foreign specialists are invited for training. Among the outstanding graduates of the faculty are the first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev, former Minister of Ferrous Metallurgy of the USSR, former Vice-Premier of the Russian Federation, now President of the Financial and Industrial Groups of Russia Oleg Nikolaevich Soskovets.

The Faculty of Power Engineering, Transport and Control Systems was reorganized from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Automation Technologies in September 2017. From 2017 to August 2020, the faculty was headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor Gulnara Gazizovna Zhabalova. In the 2020-2021 academic year, the position of dean was occupied by PhD, Kharchenko Elena Mikhailovna. From May 2021 to November 2021, the position of dean was performed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Honorary Professor of the Academy of Technology and Management of the Chuvash Republic Umbetov Umirbek Umbetovich. From December 2021 to November 2022, the position of dean was performed by Candidate of Chemical Sciences Makhmutov Bolat Bizhanovich. Since December 2022, the position of dean has been performed by senior lecturer, specialist Shayakhmetova Gulmira Aubakirovna. Since September 2024, the dean of the faculty is candidate of technical sciences, professor Zhabalova Gulnara Gazizovna.

The faculty includes four departments, three of which are graduating departments:

  • Power Engineering (Head of Department PhD Kamarova S.N.);
  • Technological Machines and Transport (Head of Department PhD, Associate Professor Bestembek E.S.);
  • Physical Education (Head of Department Master of Sports Kolesnikova R.K.)
  • Artificial Intelligence Technologies (Acting Head of Department Chvanova A. O.)

The faculty currently employs highly qualified faculty members, including 2 doctors of science, 7 PhDs, 10 candidates of science, 20 masters of science, 2 masters of sports.

The training of specialists in the field of electric power engineering has been carried out for more than 30 years (the first enrollment of students since 1988), in the field of heat power engineering - more than 30 years (since 1989), in the field of information technology - more than 15 years (since 2009), in the field of automation and control for more than 20 years (since 1999). The first graduation of mechanical engineers in the amount of 16 people was in 1975.

Among the graduates of the departments we can name: Karabalin A. A. - akim of Temirtau in 1993-2001, Georgiadi I. V. - deputy of the regional maslikhat, director, Imstalkon-Temirtau LLP, Lisitsyn E. G. - Director of JV Optim Crane Kazakhstan LLP, Karimkhan E.K. - Vice-President of Shymkentkhimmontazh JSC, S.I. Ziyashev - deputy of the regional maslikhat, head of the workshop of ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC, Arysov T.Zh. - Head of Department of Kurylysmet LLP, etc.

In 2024, the Department of Physical Education was re-established. At various times, the following worked and are working in this department: Honored Coach of Kazakhstan in Judo and Sambo, Master of Sports of the USSR Filatov Sergey Aleksandrovich, Honored Master of Sports, twenty-time world champion in powerlifting Sivokon Aleksey Nikolaevich, Master of Sports of International Class in Rowing Dmitrieva Irina Yuryevna, Master of Sports of International Class in Weightlifting Meleshko Oleg Viktorovich, Master of Sports of the USSR in Cycling Kolesnikova Raisa Kasimovna.

Students studying at the Faculty of Power Engineering, Transport and Control Systems study social and humanitarian, fundamental, economic, and general educational disciplines: theoretical and applied mechanics, lifting and transport machines and machine parts, electrical engineering and automated control systems, and a series of special disciplines in the relevant specialty.

The main base for conducting all types of industrial practice is the only metallurgical plant in the Central Asian region with a full technological cycle - JSC «Qarmet».

During their studies, students undergo industrial training at such enterprises as: Kurylysmet LLC, QazTehna LLC, BasselGroup LLS, PrintCom Service Center, Boehmer-Armatura LLC, Kazakhmys Energy LLC, Gordorservis LLC, etc., where they acquire the practical skills necessary for successful work in their chosen specialty.

HISTORY OF THE FACULTY OF ECONOMICS AND CONSTRUCTION

          The faculty was established in 1970 and was originally called Engineering and Construction. In 1989, after the transformations that took place at the Institute, it was renamed Chemical Technology. In 1999, the Kazakh department was introduced into the Faculty of Chemistry and Technology. In 2004 it was renamed the Faculty of Economics and Construction, then in 2008 it was reorganized into the Faculty of Economics. In 2012, the Faculty of Economics and Construction was established.

The faculty is constantly developing. New courses are being created in the most relevant areas of training specialists, the material base of the faculty is expanding. Students receive a fundamental education and immerse themselves in scientific research in their chosen areas of construction, modern economics, accounting and auditing, and management.

The achievements of the faculty today have become possible thanks to the enthusiasm and creativity of several generations of scientists who have worked and are working at the faculty today.

The staff of the Faculty of Economics and Construction has huge plans to improve the learning process and further increase the effectiveness of scientific research in accordance with the requirements of the time. The faculty has sufficient potential to successfully implement the planned plans. We believe that our faculty will carry its banner high and will forever remain in the hearts of students, graduates, staff and teachers.

Currently , the faculty consists of 4 departments:

  • Department of "Construction" (Head of the Department – Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Bazarov Baurzhan Anuarkhanovich);
  • Department of "General Education Disciplines" (acting head of the department – m.g.n., senior lecturer Kapasheva Zhania Kudaibergenovna);
  • Department "Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan".

Students acquire professional skills according to the educational program during practical training at the enterprises of the city and the Republic. There is an opportunity to study at other universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan and abroad under the academic mobility program. Foreign specialists are invited to teach students.

  • Preparing for interviews, including conducting trainings and role-playing games to practice communication skills with employers.
