History of University

Karaganda Industrial University was established in 1963 as a factory-college (zavod-VTUZ) affiliated with the Karaganda Metallurgical Plant, by the resolutions of the USSR and KazSSR governments.

Currently, the university consists of three faculties: "Metallurgy and Mechanical Engineering," "Energy, Transport, and Control Systems," and "Economics and Construction." There are 10 departments with a total of 140 faculty members.

Academic Work.

The university actively engages with the international academic community. In 2022, six students from Karaganda University studied at Gazi University in the Turkish Republic during the fall semester. In the fall semester of 2022-2023 academic year, three leading professors in the fields of metallurgy, chemical technology, and IT from the same university and Istanbul Technical University (ITU) visited to deliver lectures.

Karaganda University is one of the ten Kazakhstani universities that have won the Going Global Partnerships program conducted by the British Council. Development of material and technical infrastructure

Youth Policy

The following student self-governing bodies are in operation at the university on a permanent basis: Youth Affairs Committee; Student Parliament; Debating Club "Abadan"; Student Council of Dormitories No. 1 and No. 2; Council of Class Representatives; Student Club "Sanaly Urpak"; Volunteer Center "Kamkor."

The university hosts the Poetry Club "Parasat," Kazakh and Russian League of KVN (Club of the Funny and Inventive), Debating Club "Abadan," and sports sections in 9 different disciplines. There is also a Press Center.

University students participate in KVN tournaments and are members of the "Magnitka" league in Temirtau and the "KVN-Siberia-Next" league in Novosibirsk.

Karaganda University students actively participate in the activities of the Young Leaders School organized by the university.
