In order to develop the debate student movement and the intellectual potential of the student youth, an exhibition debate tournament is held annually in the first half of the year at Karaganda Industrial University, organized by the strongest debaters of CarIU for first and second year students. This year was no exception, and on October 18, 2022, the strongest debaters of the university held the first demonstration game of this year.

The theme of the trial game was the resolution of student life at CarIU, as well as the transfer of experience, demonstration of eloquence and exciting games of strong rivals.

During the debate, the head of the debate club “Abadan” User Aruzhan Ordabekovna told about the structure of the club, the directions in the debate games, what types of debates exist, and fully acquainted the participants of the event with the preparatory stage of the debate. During the demonstration game, the teams demonstrated excellent public speaking skills, thereby arousing the interest of our students.

The game provoked a positive response from all participants, a large number of students appeared who wanted to participate in the debate movement and learn how to play debates.

Students will be able to implement the acquired knowledge and skills already this year. This game has become for them a kind of preparatory stage for future debate tournaments.

Debates are a very interesting, informative game. Debates, as a system of structural discussions, originate in ancient Greece, where they were an important element of democracy.

The positive aspects of debate technology include: formation of the mood for a deep and comprehensive consideration of the issue in preparation for the debate, development of the ability to analyze and compare various ideas and facts, draw informed conclusions, build a chain of evidence, development of the ability to concentrate on the essence of the problem, the ability to master the skills of discussion culture: the ability to hear the arguments of opponents, correctly use the language of non-verbal communication (facial expressions, gestures, intonation), the development of the ability to clearly organize and express their thoughts orally and in writing, fostering tolerance for different points of view, including those different from your own.

It should also be noted that the debaters of our university are among the strongest in the Karaganda region. They can arrange a real show of speakers from the debates, annually prove their oratorical skills at the regional and republican levels!
