The scientific activity of the department is based on the perspective and current development plans of the department and the university.

The Department constantly participates in various competitions held by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the allocation of grants for fundamental and applied research programs, in which, along with teachers, doctoral students, undergraduates and students of the department actively participate.

The department participates in competitions on the formation of republican scientific and technical programs for the development of high-tech industries.

The results of research are issued in the form of monographs, textbooks, scientific articles, applications for inventions, reports at scientific and technical conferences of various levels (including international ones) and are published in republican and foreign journals, collections of works.

The main directions of scientific activity of the department

Participating in the grant financing for 2022-2025, the following projects were won:

- Development of theoretical foundations for the implementation of innovative combined processes of deformation of non-ferrous metals and alloys in order to obtain an ultra-fine-grained structure (AP13067723).

- Development and research of an innovative method of rolling with a macro-shift, which ensures the production of high-quality thick sheet of non-ferrous metals and alloys (AP14869080).

- Development of information and digital principles of management and quality control of metal products (AP15473350).

In recent years, technologies and tools for obtaining nanostructured materials have been very successfully developed and researched. This scientific direction is implemented within the framework of the cathedral, as well as research topics and programs funded from the state budget of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including republican programs of fundamental research.

The results of scientific research in this direction were the defense of doctoral and master's theses, the publication of scientific articles in various collections of scientific papers, in scientific journals, including journals with a non-zero impact factor, participation in international and national conferences, the creation of a number of inventions.

The basis of industrial experiments, research, objects of industrial testing and implementation of scientific developments of the department are the rolling shops of JSC "ArcelorMittal Temirtau" and the forging and press shop of LLP "Kurylysmet".
