On 9 April 2024 within the framework of the «Science Week» is being held at KarIU and on the eve of the 125th anniversary since the birth of Academician Kanysh Satpayev, a scientific seminar «Basic indicators of Scientometrics and their management» was held at the Department of Metal Processing by Pressure. During this seminar the professor of the Department Evgeny Panin spoke in detail the main aspects of scientometrics: working in Scopus and Web of Science databases, concepts of impact factor, quartile, percentile, and citation.
During the seminar recommendations on the choice of a journal for publishing research results were given, which indicators of the journal should be paid attention to first. It was told about the Hirsch index (h-index) and ways to increase it.
Also, after the main seminar, was shown the presentation of the latest scientific achievements of the Department «Metal Processing by Pressure» on the ongoing grant financing project. The main results of the research of the new technology of thick-sheet rolling non-ferrous metals were considered, obtained during the investigation of the process parameters using finite element modeling and laboratory experimental studies.
At the end of the seminar, the participants asked their questions, which brought to the active discussion.
