Department of Technological Machines and Transport
The history of the formation of the department “Technological machines and transport” is closely connected with the history of the previously existing departments “Metallurgical machines and equipment” (formerly “Mechanical equipment of metallurgical plants”) and “Mechanical equipment of industrial enterprises” (formerly “Construction and road machines”).
The department “Mechanical Equipment of Metallurgical Plants” (later “Metallurgical Machines and Equipment”) was founded in 1975 and the first graduates of mechanical engineers in the number of 16 persons were carried out. The first head of the department was cand. tech. sc. Krivobokov Vladimir Nikolaevich, who worked in this position until 1978. The department was headed at different times: associate professor Burdov Alexei Ivanovich (1978), cand. tech. sc. Ilkun Vladimir Ivanovich (1978-1983, 2000-2001); cand. tech. sc. Atamanov Victor Fedorovich (1983-1996); doct. tech. sc. Ichev Boris Ruskovich (1996-1998); cand. tech. sc. Kimanov Bolat Mazhitovich (1998-2000); cand. tech. sc. Kuznetsov Boris Sergeevich (2001-2005); cand. tech. sc. Izmesteva Olga Alekseevna (2005-2006), cand. tech. sc. Nogayev Kayrosh Abilovich (2006-2024). Since 2024, the department has been headed by Bestembek Yerbol Serikuly, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor.
In connection with the expansion of the training profile in 2008 the department changed its name and became known as the Department of Technological Machines and Transport (TM&T). Currently, the department provides training of personnel under the educational programs of bachelor's, master's and doctoral studies.
Teaching process in the department
The faculty members of the department have relevant basic engineering and technical education, academic degrees and titles in technical sciences. Currently, the department has 5 cand. tech. sc., 2 PhDs, 4 Masters and 2 specialists working in the department. Science is one of the priority directions of the department's activity. Teachers conduct active scientific work, improve their qualification, undergo scientific internships, participate in international scientific conferences, congresses, seminars. Realized 6 topics of scientific grant projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Department has material and technical base (auditorium fund, computer classes, laboratories, instrumental support, stock materials), corresponding to the current sanitary and technical standards and providing all types of theoretical and practical training, envisaged by the curriculum, as well as the effective implementation of research work. The department has 5 teaching laboratories, 1 scientific laboratory, 2 computer classes.
Scientific works on development and research of technological method of realization of intensive shear deformations at rolling in calibrated rolls
The department pays great attention to the establishment and support of relations with industrial enterprises, which allows to create the necessary material, technical, information and reference base for course and diploma design, distribution of graduates, scientific research of the department. Enterprises - partners are JSC “Qarmet”; LLP “Eurasian Machinery”; LLP “Borusan Makina Kazakhstan”; LLP “Imstalkon Temirtau”; LLP “Gordorservis-T”; LLP “Inkar-1”; LLP “Kurylysmet”; JSC “Karcement”; JSC “Central Asia Cement” and others. As a result of joint work of the corporate university QazTehna and the department the educational program of bachelor's degree on specialty “Automobile engineering” was launched. Within the framework of this partnership, a specialized laboratory of QazTehna plant was opened on the basis of the department in 2024.

The work on the development and revision of educational-methodical documentation in the state, Russian and English languages is underway. Educational and methodical documentation is developed by the faculty members of the department, discussed at the department meetings, coordinated by the Dean of the Faculty, Director of Academic Policy and approved by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the University. Every year the faculty members of the department take professional development courses.
